Adding Sound To Your Film Task

“Unexcused Absence” by Soren Schoeust, Thomas Grace, and Ethan Cardona

https://youtu.be/6GC98tdA1tM

In total there are 8 different sounds in our video. (Sounds that repeat aren’t included multiple times)

1. Intro Music - This helps ease the viewer into the mood at the very beginning of our video, but they quickly see that mood was a rouse with the plot of the video.

2. Ethan’s Character Theme - Whenever Ethan’s character is onscreen a creepy tone plays to signify his motives and what he plans to do. For a lot of the stuff he’s doing, its normal stuff but the theme signifies that he has alterior motives. We can see this when Soren is walking in the halls and Ethan does the exact same thing but with a creepy tone.

3. Soren’s Happy Music - This like the theme above helps play into the contrast between the two characters. Soren and Ethan both walk normally but their themes define their real motives.

4. Footsteps - The footsteps help build a sense of intensity. Every scene before this has had Ethan far away, but the footsteps show off that he is getting closer and Soren beginning to run faster.

5. Intense Music - When Soren notices he’s being followed, intense music begins to play alongside Ethan’s theme. This confirms the feelings that the viewer may be having and builds up for the climax of the video. The main event is about to go down.

6. Heavy Breathing - As Soren peers around the corner all the music is muted and we just hear heavy breathing. This puts the viewer in Soren’s shoes as we no longer hear Ethan’s theme and he has just vanished from the hallway

7. Ruler Impact SFX - The ruler obviously couldn’t  be stabbed into Soren, so this SFX shows impact and action right as the video cuts.

8. Outro Music - As we see Soren’s name getting crossed out on the attendance sheet, slow paced music begins to play and fade out alongside the video. This is the end of the video.

Camera Shots Task

The Video 1. The Long Shot: This shot wasn’t very hard to create and let’s us know where the character is before we get close. 2. The POV: The POV took a couple tries for it not to look weird. The POV established the plot of the student going to be late for turning in his homework.  3. The medium close up: The only challenging part was not to laugh. The student looks up from his phone in realization 4. Extreme Close Up: This helps build emotion and suspense for the student to know where he’s coming from. 5. Extreme long shot: Shows more of the surroundings and begins the running scenes. Not very hard to film. 6. Wide Shot: The only real problem was that people kept walking by, it establishes the student running more 7. Medium Long Shot: Keeping the subject within the range of medium long shot was challenging while moving.  8. Low Angle Shot: This shot was easier than expected to make, it shows the subject going into the classroomm so we can transition into there 9. Over the sh...
