Here is a link to Ethan, Soren, and mine’s storyboard/script:  https://csusa-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/830018340_csusaflstudent_org/EeNB4srbBHNEo-bLr3s3EDUBSZoZ_5wDxOOEzpQIy2dR_w?e=Q2pdi8 1. detail the process of making the storyboard  The storyboard started with us trying to create an idea that we could turn form into a script. The basic idea became a short story about a student taking a test and kept messing up, a silent film.  2. discussions that occured with your group  We weren’t sure whether or not to make the teacher’s face visible in the story or not, we also discussed other ways that the student (Ethan) could mess up. For example: sneezing and his eyes go on his peer’s paper which the teacher sees. 3. changes you made  I came up with the base idea and a lot of the events within the script. Ethan and Soren evolved the idea from me and we are really proud of it. 4. what worked/didn't work We liked the idea of the teacher (Mr. Cardona) basically being a teacher from a

Queer Representaton in American Media

Within The Office there is one main character who is gay. That character is Oscar Martinez. Oscar Martinez’s homosexuality is always with his character, but there is one main episode where we see it covering the “A Plot” of the episode. That episode is Season 3 Episode 1 “Gay Witch Hunt”.  The episode starts with Michael learning that Oscar is gay and awkwardly embarrasses himself and Oscar in an attempt to learn about homosexuality. The Office sticks onto its main theme of entertaining the reader, but also points out the how uninformed the masses are about homosexuality at the time. For example: Michael asks Oscar how two men would even “do it”. Michael even has Dwight watching gay p*rngraphy in order to do research on homosexuality.  The show goes on to disregard common gay stereotypes brought up by Michael. Michael mentions how if he was gay he would be extremely flamboyant and waving a rainbow flag. Oscar is embarassed by this statement. The show is indirectly teaching that being

Pitch Presentation

Representation of Age

The Office is a comedic based mockumentary revolving around the situations in an office workplace. Since it is a comedy based show there are a lot of jokes that are at the expense of others. Age is not an exception to this.  Some of the jokes are not just based on the obvious old age of people like Phyllis, but also the young age of people like Ryan or the group of new hires that join the cast later on.  This is one of the new hires pictured on the right, Clark. Clark is a young person and becomes basically an office servant for certain chores and tasks that need to be done. He even gains the nickname “Fart” because his name somewhat rhymes with it as an insult. We see a similar situation with Ryan Howard. Ryan started out as an intern who was looked down upon for his age, being a young kid in an older dominated workplace. He even had his work station placed inside a storage closet at one point. He later rises to the top working for Dunder Mifflin’s corporate where he is ranked above e

Representation of Race and Ethnicity

The show The Office is a comedy mockumentary sitcom show that aired from 2005-2013. Due to it being a relatively older show it does bring up and “joke” about races in a different way then what is acceptable today.  The Office doesn’t necessarily mean these stereotypes are true, but as a comedy show they poke dun at and acknowledge them as true. Take this scene between Dwight and Pam for example. This scene is a team building exercise being hosted in the office where everyone has a race on their forehead and other people must give hints to correctly identify what their race is. Pam brings up the stereotype that Asian people are bad drivers to which Dwight misidentifies the stereotype as all women being bad drivers. I believe the main purpose of utilizing this stereotype is as a joke to build onto the comedy factor of the show.  Other than just racial stereotypes, the cast of The Office covers a pretty decent variety of races. The characters are meaningful and impact the stories in way
